Calabasas : The City
Calabasas is located in Los Angeles County, CA at the southwestern edge of the San Fernando Valley. The 2005 census reported the population of Calabasas at 23,123. Calabasas as a city was incorporated in 1991. According to the City of Calabasas website "it is generally accepted that Calabasas means pumpkin, squash, or gourd, derived from the Spanish "calabaza". Some historians hold the theory that it is merely a translation of the Chumash word "calahoosa", but since that also refers to some type of gourd, it only matters to linguists." |
